Food to Bring Abroad: A Meat-Free Study Abroad Pack
Ready-to-eat food with no beef or chicken for students heading overseas to study. Check the customs rules of your destination country before you fly.
Why this pack has no meat
Countries such as Australia, New Zealand and the UK restrict meat products brought in by travellers, including cooked food. That is why this food to bring abroad pack only has products with no beef or chicken: White Rice, Laksa Johor and Spaghetti Laksa Thai. Our laksa gravy contains fish and prawn, so you should still declare all food when you arrive.
What is in the pack
Laksa Johor and Spaghetti Laksa Thai come with the gravy and spaghetti in one pack. White Rice goes with any dish you cook yourself once you are there.
Why it suits students abroad
A taste of home in week one
The first weeks are busy with registration and finding groceries. Ready meals help while you settle in.
No fridge needed
Good for 1 to 2 years at room temperature unopened, so it travels safely in your luggage.
Flat, light pouches
Easier to pack in a suitcase than cans or glass jars.
No beef or chicken
Chosen to lower the risk of trouble at customs. Still declare it on arrival.
How to pack it in your luggage
Put the pouches in your checked luggage, not your hand luggage, because food with gravy may count as a liquid at the security check. Keep them in a zip bag so they are easy to take out if a customs officer wants to inspect them. Leave the original label on every pack so the ingredients are easy to read. Bring a short list of the food you are carrying so you can fill in your arrival card quickly.

Can I bring this food to Australia?
Australia is very strict about food. Meat-free products are easier, but products containing fish and prawn must still be declared and may be inspected. Check the official Australian biosecurity website and read our guide on bringing food to Australia.
Why is there no Carbonara or Bolognese?
Both contain beef or chicken. Many countries restrict meat products from overseas, so we left them out of this pack.
Do I need to declare it at customs?
Yes, declare all the food you bring. In countries such as Australia and New Zealand, failing to declare food can lead to a fine.
How much should I bring?
Enough for your first week or two while you find shops nearby. Also check your baggage allowance and any food quantity limits at your destination.
How much does it cost?
Current prices for each product are shown in the product box above. Delivery cost and timing follow our delivery page.
